Meet Our Q4 Featured Rescue: Cheshire Guinea Pig Rescue
October 1 – December 31
-
This quarter, The Cavy Whisperer is incredibly proud to partner with Cheshire Guinea Pig Rescue, one of the UK’s largest guinea pig rescues.
-
From October 1 through December 31, 5% of The Cavy Whisperer’s shop profits will be donated to Cheshire Guinea Pig Rescue.
-
And because the holiday season is our busiest time of year, we’re hoping to make our Q4 partnership an especially meaningful one!
Giving Guinea Pigs the Second Chances They Deserve
-
Located at Highfield Stables in Heswall, United Kingdom, Cheshire Guinea Pig Rescue cares for and rehomes more than 500 guinea pigs every year.
-
Serving Cheshire, North Wales and Merseyside, the rescue provides rehoming and adoption services as well as guinea pig bonding, grooming and holiday boarding.
-
Their mission is simple but incredibly important: to provide exceptional welfare, education and lifelong support while ensuring every guinea pig has the opportunity to find a safe, loving home.
-
For hundreds of guinea pigs each year, Cheshire Guinea Pig Rescue represents a fresh start.
Sponsor the Snip: Helping Boys Find Companionship
One part of Cheshire Guinea Pig Rescue’s work that particularly captured our hearts is their neutering programme.
The rescue launched the programme in response to a significant increase in free-roaming guinea pig populations across the UK.
According to the rescue, many male guinea pigs who have previously been used for breeding can have difficulty living safely with other males because of territorial aggression.
That can leave these boys with fewer options for companionship and make finding an appropriate forever home more difficult.
Neutering can open another door.
Once safely neutered and given the appropriate recovery time, these boys can potentially be paired with female guinea pigs, giving them the opportunity to experience something every social little guinea pig deserves: companionship.
It can also dramatically improve their chances of finding a loving forever home.
That’s why Cheshire Guinea Pig Rescue created its Sponsor the Snip fundraiser, helping provide neutering for boys in its care.
